DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:As a Research Chemist , you will work with other chemists and technicians on next generation technologies in the Electrocoat and Pretreatment Formulation Capabilities group. You will improve both daily and strategic project deliverables in the electrocoat innovation pipeline, adhering to timelines associated with projects, mentoring technical team members, and important results to partners.

Key Responsibilities* Plan, direct, and implement research towards the development of novel electrocoat offerings.* Advance projects in teams, involving research, development, manufacturing, and commercial team members.* Mentor team members in experimental design and directing research to answer important questions.* Generate practical new ideas for solving technical problems.* Advance intellectual property capture of new technologies, working with attorneys and team members to draft patents and help develop cross your department strategies for important discoveries.* Work with global development labs in Pennsylvania, France, and China to develop and scale technologies.* Manage specific projects and people. Work with department head to assess talent.* Advance IP capture of new technologies, coordinating across R&D and the legal teams to build patent positions.
Qualifications* Ph.D. in Chemistry, Engineering, or Materials Science with 0-5 years of industry experience.* Experience with patents and IP and design of experiments* Experience with formulation and surface science
