Position SummaryThe MS operator oversees the day-to-day operation of mass spectrometers in theKislingerlab. This currently includes fourThermoScientific Orbitrap instruments (QExactive, QExactive, Orbitrap Fusion and Orbitrap Eclipse). Our instruments are connected to various nano-flow liquid chromatography systems (4 Easy-LC 1000; 1 Easy-LC 1200 and 1 Vanquish Neo) fornumerousclinical proteomics applications (DDA-MS, DIA-MS, PRM-MS) andglycoproteomicsexperiments. The MS operator is also responsible for interacting with collaborators and training new graduate students/post-doctoral researchers.
DutiesOperation of mass spectrometers.
Basic maintenance of mass spectrometers (frontend cleaning, tuning, calibration, etc.).
Management of mass spectrometry supplies (solvents, columns, etc.).
Training of new students and post-doctoral researchers (ifrequired)
Interaction with collaborators
Project design for collaborative projects
QualificationsA Master's Degree in sciences with 2 years related experience and/or a Bachelors' degree with 5years experience in a clinic research setting
Training in analytical/physical chemistry
Expertise in mass spectrometry (ideal Thermo Scientific Orbitraps, but not absolutely essential)
Expertise in proteomics (DDA, DIA, PRM) ideal
Basic expertise in data analysis expertise in R would be a bonus
Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills prior experience working and/or communicating with vulnerable patient populations
Demonstrated knowledge of research methods and knowledge translation; knowledge of concepts, values, and theory related to patient engagement in healthcare and/or research are an asset
Affinity for networking and building personal relationships
Sound moral judgement and critical thinking skills
Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and timelines
Proficient with Microsoft Office: Excel data organization, data types, filtering sorting and aggregating records, Word & PowerPoint
