Job Description
POSITION DUTIES - This position provides direct supervision, in a complex work area, to professional-level regulation agent staff responsible for regulatory oversight and inspection of vehicle dealers, repair facilities, and mechanics, and investigation of consumer complaints against these licensed entities. This position is responsible for using discretion to distinguish between regulatory violations, fraudulent acts, and activities that warrant pursuit of criminal prosecution, and determining the appropriate course of action. The incumbent is expected to promote effective communication and cooperation between other areas of the Department, other governmental agencies, law enforcement, businesses, and the public. In addition, the incumbent proposes Division goals and objectives and assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures enabling work efforts to be performed in a systematic and legal manner. Monitors staff performance for timely, accurate and appropriate actions.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
Experience
Four years of professional experience providing regulation and investigative services equivalent to a Regulation Agent or Regulation Officer, including two years equivalent to a Regulation Agent P11 or Regulation Officer P11, or one year equivalent to a Regulation Agent 12 or Regulation Officer 12.
Alternate Education and Experience
Six years of experience as a State Police Detective Sergeant or equivalent may be substituted for the experience and education requirements. The determination of the equivalent experience is based on a comparison of an applicant's experience and training to the experience and training, specifically as it relates to investigative training, of a Michigan State Police Detective.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
