  Job Description:The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiverwho assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning,implementing and evaluating care of patients. The Clinic RN utilizes thenursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention,evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health teammembers in an outpatient clinic setting. Clinic RNs are pivotal members of thecare delivery team headed by the physician and have specialized knowledge,skills and ability pertinent to ambulatory care patient needs. Scope ofperformance includes prioritization and triage of care delivery,implementing established standing orders and protocols, performingprocedures and therapies consistent with training and licensure.

  Scope

  1.Performs general nursing care to patients by following established standardsandprocedures.2. Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality.3. Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint,vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition.4. Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care,and federal/state laws and regulations.5. Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administersprescribed medications, and monitor and document treatment progress andpatient response. Refer to/consult with physicians, other healthproviders, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns.6. Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance,and management of acute and chronic conditions.7. Documents patient assessment and intervention data using establishedmedical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.8. Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processesand outcomes.9. Tracks quality assurance data and monitor for acute and chronic caremanagement.10. Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides byservice behavior standards.11. Performs other duties as assigned.

  Minimum Qualifications

  RequiredGraduate of an accredited school of nursing is requiredCurrent/valid Registered Nurse license from the state licensing board isrequired Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support(ACLS) is requiredOne (1) year related experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursingsetting is required

  PreferredBachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred

Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure, andfunctions; and community resources. Understanding of health caretechnology, equipment, and supplies. Familiarity with state law on nursingcare, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures.3. Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients.4. Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to takeappropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.5. Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients.6. Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.7. Critical thinking skills within scope of practice population healthmanagement and improvement of patient outcomes.

  Physical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and readinformation, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identifyequipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient careproviders, patients, and visitors that require employee to ve ballycommunicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms,needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergencysituations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complexand delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequentcomputer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing neededinformation, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift andutilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend toretrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes itemsof varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk andassist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributingsupplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portableequipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded andbusy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and-May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period ofti
