　　Mom & Baby is a 28-bed unit within Women and Children's Health, caringfor post-partum patients after delivery, as well as their newborns. Thereare typically 300 deliveries per month. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6,and a CNA in the nursery. Mom/baby nurses also act as "admit" RNs forall infants transferred to the Mom & Baby unit. Nurses take care of manybabies whose status does not require NICU care, but who are not yet ready togo home. Mom/Baby nurses may periodically care for a number of GYN patients.

　　Job Summary

　　Under general supervision, adheres to the American Nurses Association(ANA) standards of professional nursing and performance, and the ANACode of Ethics to provide care to all healthcare consumers. Applies criticalthinking, evidence-based practices and competence to collaborate with thehealth care team to promote excellence in healthcare consumer safety andquality outcomes. Utilizes the Theory of Human Caring and Caritas in dailypractice. "Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, Founder /Director, Watson Caring Science Institute."
