  Staff Assistant – OPS

  What you will do:

  The Office of the General Counsel is seeking to hire a full-time Staff Assistant OPS, whose duties include but are not limited to,

  Review of the request, collection of responsive records, redactions, and release.

  Respond to and process public records requests.

  Assist department personnel and the public on issues with public records requests.

  Admin tasks: runs reports, creation of user accounts, and removal of users no longer needing access.

  Receiving record requests from the public, courts, attorneys, and sister agencies.

  Locating and collecting responsive records, reviewing information in the records, redacting in accordance with State and Federal law and Department policies and sending the requested information to the requestor.

  Responds to and processes public records requests both in and out of the public records portal, GovQA.

  Testifies in court, if needed, to authenticate records.

  Review documents to determine entitlement and confidentiality to make appropriate redactions.

  Answer routine questions regarding public records.

  Other duties as assigned.

  Minimum Qualifications:

  Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication; data collection; office procedures and practices.

  Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

  Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

  Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.

  Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  Ability to timely collect, evaluate, and analyze records from all available sources.

  Ability to comprehend and interpret records.

  Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  Ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft Work and Adobe Pro.
