About the Role
The Antigen and Therapeutic Protein Production Unit of the Biologics Research Center produces therapeutic proteins and antibodies to support the discovery and development of new biotherapeutics.
Your work will contribute to the evaluation of a novel affinity chromatography system for the production and purification of proteins. For this purpose, you will focus on downstream processing (DSP) by developing new chromatography methods, producing and characterizing recombinant proteins from different expression systems.
Timing: 1st of February 2024 / latest start: 1st of March 2024
Duration: 9 months
Key Responsibilities:
• Developing new affinity liquid chromatography (ALC) methods for the purification of recombinant proteins
• Using state-of-the art protein purification processes on ÄKTA FPLCs
• Applying standard biotechnology/biochemistry laboratory techniques or methods from the literature
• Data analysis, documentation and presentation of results, e.g. in electronic lab notebooks, databases, and at internal meetings

Role Requirements
What you'll bring to the role:
• Education: Recent Master of Science in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related discipline (graduation not longer than 6 months ago)
• Languages: Proficiency in English (oral and written)
• Experience/Professional requirement
o Expertise in protein separation techniques and principles
o Demonstrated hands-on experience in biochemistry/biotechnology laboratories, experience with FPLC is desired
o Knowledge in analytical methods such HPLC/UPLC, UV spectroscopy, SDS-PAGE
o Good organizational and planning skills
o Problem-solving oriented and working skillfully
o Team player attitude, interest in drug discovery
