Quality Engineer
Whippany Actuation Systems is looking for an enthusiastic Quality Engineer who will act as an extension of the Quality Management System to ensure that all products and services are designed and produced in accordance with all established quality requirements and who is committed to exceeding customer expectations. This position provides the opportunity to be involved in all areas of the organization, establish relationships with our large customers and suppliers, grow professionally and have a direct influence on the success of the department and company.

In this role, you would typically:
Ensures product quality through the continuous improvement of processes, products, and personnel while enforcing compliance with all documented Quality Management System procedures and processesActs with the delegated authority of the Quality Management System and serves as a regulatory and quality process expert when supporting projects, meetings, and conference callsMaintains and updates the Quality Management System database and all associated records, documentation, procedures, and formsGenerates, reviews, and archives First Article Inspection reportsExecutes and facilitates the timely review and disposition of non-conforming materialAssembles cross-functional teams and provides leadership and guidance during Root Cause/Corrective Action and Quality Assurance investigationsPerforms trend analysis to identify and eliminate recurring defects and non-conformancesIssues, tracks, and maintains status of Corrective Action Requests from issuance to closureLeads and organizes customer, regulatory, supplier, internal, process assurance, and third party registrar audits, visits, and source inspectionsGenerates, reports, and presents pertinent quality metrics, presentations, and contractual deliverablesActively and openly communicates with both internal and external customers to convey the status of product returns and quality investigations while developing and maintaining positive business relationships
We Require:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years' experience a Quality role in a highly regulated environment).Prior experience within a highly regulated environment performing Quality Assurance functions with progressively increasing responsibilities or Quality Engineering functionsAbility to travel up to 10%Legal authorization to work in the United StatesEligibility for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government, to conform to U.S. export control regulations
Eligibility Requirements:
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.
Desired Characteristics:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university strongly preferredAt least 3 years of experience performing Quality Engineering functions within a highly regulated environmentExperience in an aerospace Manufacturing/Repair and Overhaul operation with certification to AS9100, AS9110, and/or ISO9001Trained AS9100 Internal AuditorKnowledge of basic electromechanical actuator functionalityPractical experience with supplier management/developmentFamiliarity with interpreting blueprint dimensions and requirements, including familiarity with GD&TWorking knowledge of DO178 and DO254 standard requirementsProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to work autonomously and effectively multitaskEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to adjust work schedule and availability to meet business and customer needs

Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditionsRequires wearing common protective or safety equipmentIncludes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortableRequires repetitive movementAbility to lift/push/pull up to 25 poundsAbility to sit or stand for extended periods
