Description:
Position Summary:
This position requires a detail oriented, proactive and self-motivated person with a working knowledge of manufacturing and distribution. Responsibilities will include the timely processing of parts and materials through the QC Receiving, QC In-process and part Qualification processes. The Quality Control Inspector will champion all quality tasks and processes for our Fort Mill, South Carolina facility. The QC Inspector will act as the department’s representative when working with suppliers, customers, auditors, inspectors, fabrication personnel and packaging/shipping personnel. High level quality issues are escalated to the Operations Manager and Quality Manager for formal resolutions and path forward instructions (i.e. formal rejections and Corrective Actions).
Essential Job Functions:
• Master blueprint reading and interpretation, inspect with proper selection of measurement gauges to meet customer requirements and expectations
• Maintain proper filing of quality documents, and retrieval of quality documents
• Create manufacturing and distribution PPAP submissions per customer requirements and AIAG 4th edition PPAP guidelines
• Provide measurement inspection and process capability feedback to the Inside Sales Team during drawing and contract reviews
• Track, note and retain PPAP approvals while updating and resubmitting PPAPs for changes, improvements, expirations or non-conformances
• Perform QC Receiving Inspections on all tooling, parts and material received
• Perform and record inspection results on all in process QC Inspections for production parts
• Review and sustain a Mfg. Report and Mfg. Order processing to production
• Lead the processing of non-conforming material and corrective actions for the Fort Mill facility working with the Quality Manager or Quality Specialist from Headquarters
• Keeping issues logs, gauge calibrations, machine validations (CPK Studies) and ERP quality forms updated and accurate
• Support run rate evaluations, efficiency improvements, process improvements, and clear communication and understanding of quality alerts, non-conformances and corrective actions
• Continually gain knowledge of materials, manufacturing production processes, gauge selection & usage, Blueprint reading and interpretation, GD&T, ERP System (Infor CSI), Excel/Adobe Acrobat Pro/Microsoft Office/Inspection Xpert/Word, Root Cause Corrective Actions (8D), nonconformance resolution and prevention, and all things Quality.
• Cultivate and maintain good working relations with SSC’s employees, suppliers and customers
Knowledge & Skills:
• Excellent computer skills: Excel, PDF professional, Word and Microsoft Office
• Proficient in the use of common inspection tools and equipment
• Strong knowledge in blue print reading, interpretation, and application
• Familiar with PSW’s, dimensional validation reports, control plans, process flows, PFMEAs, CPK Studies, Gauge R&R, material test reports and C of C’s
• Computer skills for moving, tracking, locating parts and material within the ERP system, additionally the ability to research and retrieve supplier/customer resources and requirements as needed from a computer based system
• Knowledge of the various QMS requirements; i.e., ISO, AS, TS, IATF, ISO 14001, etc., and the ability to apply these requirements to the individual’s duties
• Excellent knowledge of quality gauge selection and proper usage
