Pre-Award Grant Administrator - Joint Office of Research Administration (JORA) – Georgetown University
Job Overview
The Pre-Award Grant Administrator has duties that include but are not limited to:
Review, negotiate, and administer incoming externally funded research grants and contracts
Serve as the primary liaison with external sponsors, and review and submit proposals on behalf of the university
Sets up new awards and processes changes to existing awards in Georgetown’s financial system
Supports the researchers of Cluster #x, each of which includes several departments within Main campus and the Medical Center
The Pre-Award Grant Administrator works independently through their own deadlines, and supports all aspects of a grant or contract award, from cradle to grave, including but not limited to proposal submission, award set-up, award management, and assistance with closeout activities.
Work Interactions
Reporting directly to their Cluster Research Administrator, the Pre-Award Grant Administrator works closely with the Senior Pre-Award Grant Administrator; with other staff members in their cluster; with other JORA Post-Award Grant Administrators; and with collaborating offices to ensure that awards are complete, accurate, and in compliance with sponsor and institutional regulations, policies and guidelines.

Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a university or other non-profit grants management role
Knowledge of NIH funding mechanisms, including R01, P01, P30, T32 and foundation proposals
Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate ongoing changes to internal and external policies
Capacity to establish clear priorities and multi-task in a high-volume setting
Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure
Demonstrated financial accounting skills to enable financial and programmatic report production using a high level of proficiency in Excel
Proven experience with financial systems, accounting, and cost accounting standards as they pertain to grants and contracts management
Skilled in fostering a collaborative, customer-oriented working environment that includes multiple customers with competing priorities
Professional communication style with an ability to work with external sponsors
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Research Administration (CRA), Certified PreAward Research Administration (CPRA) and/or Certified Financial Research Administration (CFRA)
Familiarity with Workday
Salary Range
The expected pay range for this position is $ 47,586 - $68,000 per annum.
