Description Position Summary: This position is responsible for reviewing commercial loan documentation to ensure accurate and complete closing packages relative to credit approvals, documentation standards, processes, and regulatory compliance. The quality control function of loan documentation occurs prior to loan closing to ensure the loan fulfillment process is completed accurately and completely. The incumbent is responsible for presenting documentation errors or deficiencies to the Sales team for resolution and correction. This position will also conduct post-closing quality control tasks relative to accuracy of tracking systems, coding, risk ratings, review tracking, and lending authority application. The position is expected to perform job functions within service level agreements to meet client's closing expectations and deadlines. Essential Responsibilities: Job Function 1: Perform quality control review of commercial loan documentation packages to ensure an accurate, complete, and compliant loan closing - 70% Review drafted LaserPro and attorney prepared loan documentation packages for accuracy and completion relative to credit approvals, documentation standards, process requirements, and regulatory compliance. Quality control review responsibilities are inclusive of commercial and small business credits including new notes, renewals, and various change in terms documentation. Serve as a subject matter expert regarding loan documentation. Read and review the credit approval and various borrower and collateral due diligence documents and the commercial loan delivery system data inputs to assess accuracy of documentation package. Maintain an understanding of required loan documents to assess completeness of package. Confirm accuracy of loan agreements and guarantees relative to required monitoring and covenants. Confirm that all third-party signatures have been agreed to prior to closing. Communicate any documentation deficiencies or inaccuracies to the Loan Documentation Specialist or Commercial Banking Associate for correction. Process tasks as required within workflow system and keep statuses up to date and real time. Identify areas needing improvement, work with team to develop process improvement plan, and assist with implementation. Job Function 2: Perform Post-Closing Quality Control Review Tasks - 15% Confirm accuracy of monitoring ticklers and covenant creation for new or renewed commercial and small business loans. Confirm accuracy of concentration reporting loan codes. Complete testing of financial SOX controls relative to risk rating assessment and accuracy, proper application of lending authority, and accuracy of loan review tracking. Job Function 3: Conduct Loan Documentation Vendor and Process Management - 5% Provide insight and feedback on use of standards and provisions within loan documentation system. Assist with any system release testing and updates. Collaborate with supervisor and system administration support on suggested documentation changes. Provide support for new system projects, department initiatives, team activities and audits. Develop and maintain specialized processes as assigned by the supervisor. Job Function 3: Provide Team Support - 5% Provide primary and backup coverage on processes, as needed. Create, update, and maintain written procedures in Alerus procedure (R&R) database. Identify and implement process improvements that enhance the client experience and build scale. Assist with team, loan, or company-wide projects, as required. Participate in team meetings by providing insight, contributions, and feedback. Job Function 4: Professional & Personal Development - 5% Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all systems & processes that pertain to the position. Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of required regulations, loan documentation requirements, policies, and procedures. Actively pursue continuing education, reading, and self-development to enhance skills. Complete regulation, compl ance, and additional training as assigned. Build solid working relationships with team members across the organization. Position Requirements: Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business related field or equivalent experience in the financial industry. Five or more years of commercial loan documentation experience. Prior experience in a quality control review function of loan documentation preferred. Personal Characteristics: High attention to detail. Strong ability to focus and concentrate.
