  The individual hired for this in-person and on-site job, will work in the supervision of a research coordinator and interact with other institutions/entities, development of study materials, compliance and tracking activities, manage diverse data activities (including managing the REDCap web-based database), presentations that summarize the analysis of data, preparation of quarterly data quality reports to the study’s DSMB, performing data quality checks, and setting up and testing study equipment. Will also be trained in Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and conduct MET counseling sessions with patients after stroke during rehabilitation, including both in-person and phone sessions.

  The position, funded by an NIH grant, supports the University’s and Department of Neurology’s mission to advance knowledge through research in the clinical neurosciences. We anticipate that the Project Manager will oversee and manage the recruitment of approximately 40 eligible participants from the two rehabilitation units at the UW each year, for a 4-year period (n=160). The project manager will also help guide recruitment and retention of study participants at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center (RLANRC) in Los Angeles. Both the rehabilitation units at UW and RLANRC will employ Research Coordinators who will work with the Project Manager on day-to-day activities.

  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee study enrollment and protocol implementation of the research study - 45%

  Provide oversight for this complex, multicenter trial.

  Work with investigators at 2 recruitment centers (University of Washington in Seattle, WA., and Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in L.A., CA.) on compliance and tracking activities, recruiting and scheduling study participants, and performing data quality checks.

  Ensure compliance with internal and external study regulation policies (including human subjects); oversee participant tracking, and data collection; coordinate the study’s needs for sleep apnea testing and CPAP devices; and ensure that the study is completed within the proposed timeline and budget.

  Will be responsible for overseeing protocol and intervention fidelity and assisting with other day-to-day project management duties across the two academic institutions (subject payment and reporting, management of staff and volunteers).

  Will oversee development and maintenance of a manual of procedures.

  Plan and manage trial investigator meetings and other trainings across sites. Will help devise and deliver content for the trainings.

  Provide guidance and supervision of study staff including the other trial site.

  Assist PIs with design, development, and execution of the study

  Assist with monitoring of recruitment and retention and troubleshoot issues related to recruitment and retention.

  Assist PIs to devise, implement, and monitor any corrective action plans.

  Oversee and arrange development of videos, recruitment materials, and other project tools for use across sites.

  Provide financial management of study including overseeing payments to entities that support the trial.Conduct the study’s Motivational Enhancement Therapy program - 20%

  Will undergo 8-16 hours of training in Motivational Interviewing with didactics and role-playing.

  Will conduct all the study’s MET counseling sessions with participants assigned to the MET behavioral intervention under the supervision of clinical psychologist.

  Will create written summaries of the sessions to be given to research participants, attend feedback sessions with the study’s clinical psychologist to ensure treatment fidelity throughout the study and receive feedback for the MET sessions.Provide regulatory support - 10%

  Will oversee communication with the Central IRB.

  Will prepare protocol and consent amendments, submission of adverse events, and protocol deviations to the CIRB.

  Will assure compliance with other regulatory efforts including appropriate staff training, COI, and clinicaltrials.gov submissions and updatesProvide training, management, and oversight of coordinator(s) and other study staff - 10%

  Hire, train and manage study staff, including a research coordinator.Liaise with companies and other entities providing support for the study, other academic partners, and advisory board - 10%

  Prepare and present written reports and other presentations that summarize the analysis of data and assist in preparation of quarterly data quality reports to the study’s DSMB.

  Help guide the other recruitment site (Rancho Los Amigos) on trial implementation and documentation.

  Help manage contracts and agreements for this study.

  Coordinate and lead meetings with study partners.Manage study equipment and supplies - 5%

  Set up and test study equipment (including study iPads, sleep apnea testing devices, CPAP devices).

  Arrange review by clinical engineering for stickering as needed.

  Track inventory.

  Order supplies. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years minimum work experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Prior experience as a study coordinator for clinical research including clinical trials; prior use of REDCap, prior experience building a REDCap database; excellent organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; outstanding interpersonal skills; strong technology skills; dedication to research; able to work independently. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree in field related to clinical research; fluency in Spanish; previous work as a project or program manager for a clinical trial; experience with behavioral research; experience with motivational interviewing; previous experience with sleep apnea testing and treatment equipment.
