This position may work closely with the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) which is a multi-technology office responsible for overseeing more than $27B of investment in large scale demonstrations in emerging technologies such as clean hydrogen, carbon capture, advanced nuclear reactors, grid-scale energy storage, industrial emissions reductions as well as demonstrations in rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged regions.
This position is remote, with the expectation that candidates can work during Eastern Time Zone office hours. Residency in the United States is a mandatory requirement.
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct independent engineering / due diligence technical advisory reviews of clean energy technologies and projects. Manage internal project teams performing the independent engineering / due diligence technical advisory reviews of clean energy technologies and projects. Provide QA/QC review of project team work and all deliverables for independent engineering / due diligence technical advisory reviews of clean energy technologies and projects.
Able to evaluate the expected or actual functionality and performance of clean energy technologies and projects
Identify key gaps / needs as it relates to the functionality and performance of clean energy technologies and projects
Identify project risks and risks mitigants of clean energy technologies and projects
Articulate recommendations for improvement (when necessary)
Work in teams and independently to provide engineering expertise on various clean energy technologies and projects
Draft, edit, and review independent engineering / due diligence reports on evaluated clean energy technologies and projects
Able to draft a data table and risk table (as part of an independent engineering / due diligence report or otherwise)
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication – communicating succinctly and clearly
Liaise with a variety of stakeholders when providing engineering expertise (e.g., clients, technology providers, engineering disciplines.)
Manage internal and external project budgets and staffing, including subcontractors performing any aspect of the preceding job responsibilities.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Masters’ degree in engineering or business is a plus
Background in clean energy, renewable energy, or power generation projects, particularly with clean energy and renewable energy technologies
Ability to prepare project org charts, Gantt charts, work breakdown structures (WBS) and other typical project management deliverables
Ability to review project financial models (pro formas) is required
Ability to review related contracts, such as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts, equipment supply agreements, O&M agreements, service agreements, power purchase agreements, tolling agreements is a plus
Experience providing independent engineering, technical advisory, due diligence services
Minimum of 10 years’ experience practicing in this field, preferably as an engineer-of-record
A licensed professional engineer (P.E.) is preferred
Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
