The Project Engineer is an integral part of the project team. An active contributor to team activities, the Project Engineer shares experiences and ideas, proactively participates in discussions, asks questions, checks for understanding, and provides explanation clearly and precisely. Typically working with moderate guidance, the Project Engineer is accountable for individual results and impact on work group. Must be dependable, punctual and work with integrity on projects and in interactions with coworkers, owners, clients, and subcontractors.
The Project Engineer’s responsibilities include, among other functions as requested:
Regularly attend the project meetings with the project manager and generate the minutes of each meeting (content to include both PM and PE notes) Draft agenda for sub-coordination meetings.
Facilitate and support management and field supervision staff as required.
Communicate with subcontractors via all forms of communication and be able to effectively report and communicate the outcome of those discussions with the project manager.
Verify all materials submitted through the submittal process are per the project documents. Take part in pre-installation meetings. Review with the superintendent installation means and methods and verify fit and finish meets the plans and specifications.
Works on assignments that are routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice.
Responsible for knowing and understanding main "Scope of works" for the subcontractors onsite.
Generate RFI's and track through submission, review and distribution. Drafting under minimal review and direction of others. Maintain ASI, CCD, RFI and Field Logs with oversight from immediate supervisor.
Responsible for creating the Submittal Log and maintaining it through the process in Procore.
Ensure approved submittals are distributed to all required parties in a timely manner and maintained in the file system and project management database.
Create and maintain project closeout requirements.
Maintain the As- built Drawings.
Assist Project Administrator with drafting Subcontracts and Purchase Orders.
Basic review of Sub Cost Proposals (content) and reviewing with immediate supervisor.
Assist immediate supervisor with the project CPM schedule updates.
Keeping digital drawings current and active in Procore and managing user access with supervision.
Reviews and drafts daily and weekly reports for review by Superintendent.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or construction management
Minimum 3-5 years of commercial construction experience
Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software preferred
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Power Point
Pass a Pre-Employment Drug Test
The salary range for this position is between $65,000 and $80,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
Work Environment / Physical Demands: This position works in a professional office environment and on construction jobsites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The Noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally performed in outside weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and use a computer. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The Employee may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
