Title: Program Technician - Lead Ambassador Program$21.48 - $29.50 / Posted Thru:
Work Location: Remote/Virtual - Must Live Within Commuting Distance ofWayne and Oakland Counties
Purpose: This position provides community outreach and engagement support to the Lead Ambassador Program within the Division of Environmental Health at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). This program technician will play a critical role in ensuring successful implementation of the Lead Ambassador Program and communication of health-protective information and resources in communities throughout Michigan.
Duties and Responsibilities:Travel to diverse communities and engage with community members impacted by environmental contamination by providing health-protective information and awareness at community events, meetings, and other venues.Work closely with the Program Manager for the Lead Ambassador Program to build, implement, develop, and evaluate the Lead Ambassador Program.Interact with community members and stakeholders.Schedule and attend meetings with community partners and stakeholders.Build capacity for community partners and stakeholders to share knowledge and provide feedback.Interact with and provide support to community-based Lead Ambassadors.Identify and cultivate relationships with community partners, groups, and stakeholders.Implement new and existing health education and outreach programs.Assist with program-related projects and activities as needed.General administrative duties as needed.Maintains a positive, strong, credible, professional, and interpersonal relationship with all parties relevant to MDHHS and Michigan Public Health Institute (MPHI) projects and represents the best interest of MDHHS and MPHI at all times.All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, advanced degree preferred.
Experience: Experience conducting outreach and community engagement fieldwork is preferred.

Transport supplies to sites around the state on an occasional basis. Items and supplies can be bulky and weigh up to 40lbs. May go door-to-door to educate residents and may be exposed to cold or wet weather conditions.
