The Program Specialist role reports to and works in partnership with the Director of Operations including priorities such as event coordination, marketing and promotions, program arrangements and implementation, and Center operating and administrative responsibilities. This position will work in conjunction with the Center Senior Leadership, and a diverse range of partners to support opportunities to advance the outreach, educational, and research mission of the Center. Center Programs and Projects 60% Key duties include but are not limited to: Work closely with the Director of Operations to develop and deliver the Minnesota Young American Leaders Program (MYALP). Provide coordination and administration for Program including scheduling, event management, preparation and development of materials, contact agreements, as well as working with regional selection partners (e.g. the Itasca Project, the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation, Greater Mankato Growth) for participant selection and pre-and post-Program activities Develop and support Center events and curriculum opportunities e.g., Cross Sector Conversation Series, Law and Leadership conversation series, Integrative Leadership Badge, workshops, including development and execution, event promotion, registration, securing event spaces and caterers, hosting, and managing day of event operations. Implement strategic event planning to ensure events integrate Center resources and mission successfully. Work with the Center Senior Leadership and external partners to develop yearly calendar of Center gatherings to promote learning and sharing of insights related to shared leadership among community members, students, faculty and staff. Consult with other University colleges, units, and faculty members to provide guidance about incorporating integrative leadership training into existing academic courses or workshops including both content and methods of delivery. Support Minimum Viable Benefit projects (as part of the Minnesota Young American Leaders Program), which involves senior community leaders from business, government or non-profit organizations mentoring cross-sector teams of rising leaders and working with students to help research and launch their initiatives to promote public good. Serve as lead in coordination with project groups and senior mentor identification, scheduling, promotion of project opportunities to students, etc. Center Operations and Budget Management 40% Key duties include but are not limited to: Aid in the development of the Center's annual budget and ensuring salaries and expenditures are managed in the core budget as well as for sponsored and subcontracted projects. Identify potential adjustments and reallocations to stay within revenue projections. Ensure expenses are correctly charged and assigned to chart strings, etc. Collaborate with Center Senior Leadership to identify and pursue potential Center grant or funding opportunities with new and existing sources of support. Consult with the Director of Operations to develop, implement, and evaluate annual marketing and communications plan including determination of target audiences. Utilize content knowledge and effective writing and editing skills to produce Center newsletter, manage website and social media, in addition to other outreach campaigns, including soliciting content, creating content, and oversight of distribution to internal and external stakeholders in coordination with the Director of Operations. Serve as point of contact to triage messages and requests from website, email, and voicemail. Suppo t application process and tracking for Center research opportunities taking into account Center Leadership Team research priorities and input; Support research, writing and dissemination of research findings Conduct, summarize and distribute literature reviews regarding cross-sector leadership Provide administrative support for Center Advisory Council meetings - including scheduling, preparation, communication; Coordinate with other scheduling leads, send and manage calendar invites, share meeting documents, etc. as needed Assist in the engagement and connection of Center partners, community members, and alumni Attend occasional University and/or community events on behalf of the Center Qualifications Required Qualifications BA/BS plus six years of experience or advanced degree plus at least four years of experience Demonstrated experience with operations and/or program and event management Strong written and oral communication skills Preferred Qualifications Private, government, or non-profit sector experience Self-starter with demonstrated willingness both to take initiative and to pitch in. Proven strong interpersonal and collaborative skills and ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders Proven detail-oriented with strong organization, time-management, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects with timeliness and accuracy Proven ability to think strategically and plan. Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with University of Minnesota processes, departments, professional schools or organizations. Proven interest and aptitude in higher education or academic research or outreach Budget or data analysis or tracking experience Comfort working with a degree of ambiguity About the Department The Center for Integrative Leadership is a University-wide Center sited at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. It is closely affiliated with the University's graduate professional schools sharing a common focus on leadership, management and governance: the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, the Carlson School of Management, the Law School, the School of Public Health, and the College of Education and Human Development. Its focus is on building understanding of and capacity for collaborative action for public good across business, government and non-profit organizations. It creates bridges between these graduate professional schools, external organizations and community members to accomplish this goal through programs, projects, and coursework; gatherings; and research. Since its inception in 2006, the Center has been funded by both outside funders and the University.
