The Phoenix Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Plumbing, Painting, Security and Protective Services, HVAC, Landscaping, Electrical, and Building Construction Technology.

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Program Director to join our team at Phoenix Job Corps. The Program Director will oversee the Academics, Career Technical Training, Residential Living, Counseling, Recreation, Career Preparation, and Career Transition departments, as well as related programs and activities. Their primary duty will be to ensure that students make progress, achieve their goals, and complete the Phoenix Job Corps program successfully. Additionally, they will be responsible for placing students upon program completion, by providing them with industry-recognized training and certifications leading to full-time jobs, higher education, apprenticeships, or advanced training. The Program Director will also ensure that students have access to a clean, safe, and secure living environment, and will provide extended training opportunities to supplement their education, training, and development.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing students with educational and career technical training leading to academic and career completions.
Manages a career transition program to prepare students for quality placements.
Offers comprehensive and individualized case management to ensure student progress, achievement, and completion of the Job Corps program, including timely placements.
Provides quality and structured non-class hour activities for students, such as leadership, student government, independent living skills, and other special programs.
Oversees the extended training day program, ensuring it supports continual student growth and development.
Ensures the Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals.
Ensures high-quality career preparation, counseling, academic training, career technical training, career transition programming, and instruction, along with career transition services.
Organizes and maintains areas of oversight to be organized, clean, safe, and conducive to student learning, living, achievement, and success.
Ensures Program staff effectively utilize and follow the Center’s behavior management system.
Motivates, empowers, and requires staff to perform their job responsibilities effectively.
Employs sound time-management and delegation skills.
Holds staff accountable for producing quality work, develops staff for career progression, and disciplines staff that fail to meet goals.
Fills staff vacancies promptly and handles the hiring process, including interviewing, recommending for hire, disciplining, recommending for termination, and evaluating employee performance in the Employability & Training department.
Provides required and supplemental training for new and current employees.
Works with Career Transition staff to identify quality job opportunities for students.
Collaborates with Administration Director and E&T Manager to identify and review Career Technical Skills Training projects.
Motivates and manages staff effectively, creates a supportive work environment, recognizes staff accomplishments, and proactively addresses staff performance concerns.
Develops Center-beneficial linkages within the community for enrollment, education, employment, Career Technical Training, WBL, and placement.
Promotes a positive image of the Center and Job Corps and establishes meaningful relationships with elected officials.
Mentors monitor and model the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population.
Takes swift and appropriate action to influence student behavior positively.
Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior.
Provides quality programs and services for students, ensuring that quality is maintained and student needs are met.
Pursues improvement and enhancement of programs and services.
Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, clearly and concisely.
Contributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge.
Provides quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited school is required for this position, while a Master's degree from an accredited school is preferred. A minimum of five years of experience in education, training, residential or group living, or a related field is also required, including two years of supervisory experience. A valid in-state teaching certificate is preferred, and experience with Job Corps or related programs is highly desirable.
