Position Purpose: Monitor moisture of important manufacturing materials to ensure production standards are met at all times. Responsibilities include but are not limited to collection and moisture analysis of feed materials. Additional testing may include drainage and sieving. This role is primarily focused on collecting and analyzing data to effectively monitor production processes and ensure safety, quality, environmental, and production standards.
Responsibilities:
· Monitor systems to ensure sampling occurs at needed times; will include communication with operators to verify sampling times
· Sample collection, moisture calculations, operation of ovens, scales and basic lab equipment
· Conduct moisture analysis on feed and oxide materials; conduct laboratory analysis on other materials as needed; additional testing of drainage and sieving when needed
· Assist with the establishment of operating procedures for the laboratory and other areas of the company as needed
· Advise shift managers on technical operating problems
· Assist shift supervisor(s) and lead person(s) in training production staff on production, safety, and quality issues
· Take immediate action when observing safety violations that are life threatening or pose risk of serious injury, otherwise, advise shift supervisor of safety and procedural violations or variances so the shift supervisor can take the appropriate action
· Ensure cleanliness of laboratory
· Sit on and participate in meetings, teams, and training seminars
· All other duties and projects as assigned by management
Qualifications:
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in scientific or engineering field
· Technical skills in maintenance of lab instruments and equipment
· Capable of wearing respiratory protection and other PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, boots, hearing protection) in hot work environment up to 10-12 hours per day
Preferred Qualifications:
· 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory, or similar production operation preferred
· Experience in materials sampling and sample preparation preferred
· Experience with sample preparation equipment (scales, ovens, sieves, etc.)
Shift Details
· Day shift: $28/hour
· Night shift: $32/hour
