The Vergennes site is responsible for production of aerospace anddefense components used on commercial and military platforms. Theengineer will ensure quality is built into manufacturing processes anddocumentation. Additionally, the engineer will work alongside operationsand manufacturing engineering to solve problems, improve efficiency, andpart quality.
This is an onsite quality production-oriented position in amanufacturing shop environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will provide support to assigned customers in awide variety of tasks including:
Provide real time quality support to Manufacturing
Trend and monitor quality related issues on a weekly basis, communicateopportunities to production and site leadership teams
Lead Quality Improvement projects with the goal of reducing qualityescapes and improving First Pass Yield
Assist with handling of field returns, complete Root Cause Analyses andhelp drive corrective and preventative actions.
Continuous refine and improve work instructions and associated training.
Drive culture of Quality and creative mistake proofing
Assist Material Review Board (MRB) when necessary
Support internal and external audits as needed
Other Roles and Responsibilities:
Establish Statistical Process Control (SPC) where possible
Drive development of PFMEAs on critical parts and components
Execute Manufacturing Process Reviews (MPR) and process audits as partof Continuous Process Improvement
Comply with and demonstrate adherence to all Collins policies,procedures, regulations, & any required training involving EH&S, Ethics,Continuous Improvement (CORE) and Quality
Qualifications / Experience Needed:
Typically requires a University Degree and less than 2 years priorrelevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevantexperience
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized toaccess information under this program/contract
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering or Business
Extensive knowledge of DMAIC and Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies
ASQ Certification
SAP experience
