  Job Description

  Must be available full time between May 2024 to August 2024. You will have the opportunity to work on an as needed bases until December 2024, if desire to continue past August.

  The Pharmacy Intern, under the direct supervision of a licensed Medicare Quality pharmacist, will engage with Medicare members to improve medication adherence to Medicare Star rated medications and support other quality measures.

  Under the direct supervision of the Medicare Quality pharmacist, the pharmacy intern will engage Priority Health Medicare members to improve medication adherence to cholesterol, diabetic, and antihypertensive drugs for Star rated medications. In addition, the pharmacy intern may complete a comprehensive medication review (CMR) and document clinical information in the Medication Therapy Management (MTM) platform that is compliant with CMS requirements.

  • Utilize motivational interviewing skills to identify and address barriers to medication adherence• Educate members on disease state and medication• Educate members on Medicare Part D benefits and drug coverage to increase understanding and improve member experience• Coordinate with other health plan staff to improve health outcomes. This may include, but is not limited to, identifying and addressing Social Determinants of Health. • Engage with providers and pharmacies• Identify and recommend operational improvements• Participate in internal meetings and collaborate with internal partners on organizational goals• Prepare and deliver presentation on pharmacy related topics • Maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with members and providers• Perform other duties assigned by the Manager of Medicare Quality or preceptor• Summer intern position will start after finals week and allow for 3 weeks off to complete the 3-week summer IPPE required by pharmacy school

  Qualifications

  Currently enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy

  Must able to attend onsite meetings with leadership or a Health Fair on occasion

  1 year of relevant pharmacy experience, preferred

  1 year of community pharmacy experience, preferred

  Entering third year of pharmacy school August 2025, preferred

  Experience with motivational interviewing techniques and open-ended questions, preferred
