Description
My client, a global nonprofit, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its team in Washington, DC. As a Senior Accountant, reporting to the accounting manager, you will play a vital role in managing financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
General Ledger Management:
Maintain the General Ledger, including posting journal entries and ensuring accurate accounting structure.
Generate financial reports and uphold data integrity standards.
Financial Oversight:
Review financial reports from both overseas and U.S. entities.
Record transactions for overseas entities, using journal entries and other accounting modules.
Balance Sheet Reconciliation:
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including accrued salaries, expenses, and related accounts.
Contribute to monthly and annual financial closings.
Audit and Compliance:
Support the Finance team during year-end annual audits and compliance activities.
Assist with the management of payroll processing.
Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate employee deductions and benefit setups.
Review and approve timesheets for accuracy.
Currency Management:
Lead currency conversion efforts.
Manage multi-currency and multi-entity platforms in the general ledger, ensuring accurate currency conversion rates.
Accounts Payable:
Code invoices to the appropriate cost centers.
Process payments efficiently.
Act as the primary contact for vendor and payroll-related inquiries.
Monitor the accounts payable aging report to ensure timely invoice payments.
Audit Support: Provide audit support during the annual organizational audit, with a focus on payroll and accounts payable.
Requirements
3+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
Knowledge of Accounting close process
Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger
Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
Must have excellent time management skills
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Ability to meet deadlines
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Deep understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
Efficient in ERP systems
Corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems experience a plus
