The Ordering department in Amazon forms the backbone of multiple commerce experiences like Classic Retail, Amazon Fresh, Alexa Shopping, Prime Now etc. along with powering Physical Stores like Amazon Books, Amazon 4 Stars, Amazon Go, etc. to name a few.A Principal Technical Program Manager will require working across business needs of 100s of such businesses to distill the requirements needed to inform the next generation commerce ecosystem. The massively distributed system today runs at millions of TPS and being the primary source for accepting and processing customer orders requires an uptime of 99.999%.The role will require constant balance between long term product vision along with addressing immediate needs, driving an incremental approach that is metrics and data driven. It will require communicating effectively with leaders across Director and VP level on a monthly basis while ensuring that the teams are aligned and stakeholders are aware of key performance indicators.The role is a hybrid of having deep technical knowledge and being instinctive on how commerce should function as a business along with a deep technical understanding of how to make these changes happen via a distributed system. The base pay for this position ranges from $141,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market.
