ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Abide by all Safety regulations and policies
Must wear all required PPE for any task/job currently being performed
Meet all production standards and efficiencies focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost based on current routings/times
Perform daily housekeeping task. Help maintain 5S standards in your work location and whole department
Must be willing to work outside of your current Job Classification and Department as qualified and needed
Must complete First Piece Inspection protocol and related paperwork
Remove and install various types of dies using the quick die change method in all machines categorized as light press and heavy press
Set up coils onto de-reelers and make proper adjustments for production
Use A-frame hoists to load coils onto coil car, then to de-reelers, adjust feed lengths and speeds, and limit switches and spectrum controls
Make internal and external changes to various dies as needed
Make all necessary adjustments to produce a quality part and inspect the part to the proper pint
Assist in training new personnel entering the heavy or light press classification
Troubleshoot problems and make the appropriate corrections for operators when necessary
Fill out maintenance and tooling work orders
Assist set-up personnel in quick die change activity
Operate press, taking full responsibility for the quality of the parts being produced while maintaining production to the standards set forth by Industrial Engineering
Retrieve production materials from steel receiving area
Keep accurate records of the amount of raw material being used and the number of parts produced
Unload tail ends of material and load fresh stock into die
Move completed parts to their proper destination
Make minor adjustments to the die or machinery to assure parts meet quality standards
Dump steel scrap
Collect and dispose of refuse
Band coils and dispose of wooden skids
Retrieve propane tanks for tow motor
JOB QUALIFICATIONS :
High School diploma or equivalent
Basic mechanical abilities
Basic mathematical abilities (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
Organizational and communication skills
Desire to learn new skills and improve knowledge
Strong orientation toward:
Safety, quality, and continuous improvement demonstrated by a work history of safe performance, accuracy and attention to detail in the work performed, constructive problem solving and suggestions for improvement, ability to effectively implement or respond to change, punctuality and consistent work attendance
Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures, including those related to Safety
Press operation experience required
Press set up experience preferred
Dye changing experience preferred
Ability to learn quick die change techniques
Experience or ability to learn to read various types of inspection equipment
Basic ability to read and understand blueprints
Basic knowledge of various hand and power tools
Ability to operate gas and battery powered lift equipment and die tables
Ability to be trained to operate 20-ton and 10-ton overhead cranes and also 3-ton A-frame cranes
Ability to learn the various progressive dies in order to know where to place the material when loading and unloading material
Ability to learn the various types of scrap conveyors and what die they are used for
Ability to learn the various types of materials and what die they run in
Ability to learn the various types of containers used for parts storage and the maximum quantity allowed
Ability to:
Load coils onto coil car
Load coils onto de-reelers
Thread coils into straightener
Place proper lubricant in reservoir and keep oiler adjusted
Make due cushion pressure adjustments as material thickness varies
Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Will be working in a manufacturing plant with varying climate
Must be able and willing to work daily and weekly overtime as required
Able to stand continuously for 8 to 10 hours daily
Able to lift, push and/or pull up to 33lbs individually and up to 66lbs as a team
Must be able to continuously perform grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and walking
