  ABOUT SAINT FRANCIS HOSPITAL AND MOUNT SANAI REHABILITATION HOSPITAL

  The President and CEO will have responsibility for Saint Francis Hospital (617 beds) and Mount Sanai Rehabilitation Hospital (60 beds), approximately $1B operating revenue with over 3200 colleagues.

  Saint Francis Hospital has been an anchor institution in Connecticut since 1897. Saint Francis is a member of Trinity Health Of New England and Trinity Health, one of the largest multi-institutional Catholic health care delivery systems in the nation. Saint Francis Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center, is a 617-bed hospital, a major teaching hospital, and the largest Catholic hospital in New England.

  Other Saint Francis entities include the Comprehensive Women’s Health Center, the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute, the Curtis D. Robinson Center for Health Equity, the Hoffman Heart and Vascular Institute, the Smilow Cancer Hospital Yale-New Haven at Saint Francis, and Trinity Health Of New England Medical Group.

  Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital (MSRH) is the largest provider of acute rehabilitation services in Connecticut. In 2015, MSRH became part of Trinity Health Of New England, an integrated health care delivery system that is a member of Trinity Health, Livonia, Michigan, one of the largest multi-institutional Catholic health care delivery systems in the nation, serving communities in 22 states. Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital offers inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation to assist individuals in regaining function, independence, and to achieve the best possible outcomes following spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, limb loss, neurologic disorders, debility, orthopedics, and musculoskeletal conditions.

  The Joyce D. and Andrew J. Mandell Center for Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Care and Neuroscience Research is located on the MSRH campus.

  At MSRH, a nationally recognized staff of rehabilitation specialists in physical and occupational therapy, physiatry, neurology, urology, neuropsychology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, and speech language pathology is equipped to provide integrated services needed to reach the best possible rehabilitative outcomes in one center of medical rehabilitation excellence.

  POSITION PURPOSE

  Responsible and accountable for executive leadership and operational direction to a Regional Health Ministry (RHM) within the regional operating structure. As a member of the regional executive team, actively engages in the creation and execution of strategies that enhance Trinity Health’s impact with its market area. As the accountable executive for a specific RHM, responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and operating plans that align with regional objectives, reflect community needs, achieve organizational goals and advance the philosophy, mission and vision of Trinity Health. Fosters an environment that promotes and ensures excellence in the care experience and operational efficiencies within a variety of delivery settings. As the RHM executive leader, provides leadership and guidance to the RHM senior leadership team, enabling collaborative planning, innovation and decision-making.

  Creates an organizational culture that celebrates diversity and a community of committed persons serving the healing ministry with focus on competencies that support values of respect, social justice, care of the poor and underserved, compassion and excellence. Ensures effective governance and establishes a participative management and engaged organizational climate that develops and maintains talent and inclusiveness within the RHM and throughout the region.

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  Cultural Alignment: Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the Trinity Health mission, vision, and values in leadership behaviors, practices and decisions.

  Regional Executive Leadership: Serves as a member of the regional executive leadership team charged with the creation of regional strategies that reflect the needs of the market area and the priorities of Trinity Health. Collaborates with regional executives, system office colleagues and other RHM Presidents to achieve RHM, regional and system objectives. Seeks out, embraces and capitalizes on the advantages of regional and system resources, diversity, scale, replication opportunities, people and intellectual capital. Shares accountability for the achievement of regional performance metrics, including regional development.

  Region Health Ministry (RHM) Direction: Responsible and accountable for executive leadership and directly supervises RHM senior management team ensuring the achievement of financial, operational and strategic plans with a focus on excellence in personalized care in a variety of delivery settings. Champions change, operational improvement and growth initiatives - seeks out and employs effective change management and performance improvement techniques and tools.

  Regional Health Ministry (RHM) Accountability and Responsibility: The RHM Presidents report to and are accountable to the Regional President and CEO. The RHM Presidents are accountable for the selection, evaluation and overall success of the senior leadership team within assigned RHM.

  Strategic Thinking: Leads the formation of the RHM vision and strategic plan and the development and achievement of its goals and objectives. Ensures RHM vision and operational plan are aligned with Regional and system strategies and objectives. Oversees the analysis of community needs and the development of supportive programs and services, especially for the poor, populations at risk and the underserved.

  Clinical Delivery: Facilitates the development and implementation of integrated clinical service delivery platforms within assigned RHM and ensures integration and alignment within the region. Champions physician alignment strategies that lead to growth within the RHM and regional affiliations. Ensures the coordination of actions and realization of service efficiencies that drive increased quality and responsiveness to marketplace needs.

  Mission and Diversity: Develops and sustains an organizational culture that celebrates a diverse community of committed persons serving the healing ministry with focus on developing competencies that support values of respect, social justice, care of the poor and underserved, compassion and excellence.

  Talent Development: Mentors and develops the RHM senior leadership team, fostering achievement of goals and objectives, high performing leadership practices, collaboration, innovation, and interdependence. Participates in regional succession planning and supports talent development initiatives within the region. Employs participative management and leadership approaches that optimize organization resources and talent effectiveness and organizational learning.

  Community: Leads applicable governance process and works with community leaders to advance the mission of the hospital’s strategic and philanthropic plans. Actively participates in associations and groups within the region. Establishes and maintains relationships with key community and state leaders to facilitate the accomplishment of regional and system goals and objectives.

  Regulatory and Compliance: Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health's Organizational Integrity Program, standards of conduct, ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  Must possess a thorough knowledge of healthcare management principles and techniques as normally obtained through a Master's Degree in Health Administration or a related field and a minimum of ten (10) years of management experience, to include but not limited to experience as the Chief Operating Officer and/or President/Chief Executive Officer of an integrated health care entity.

  Advanced business and executive leadership skills to develop new or enhance existing clinical and operational strategies, business plans, policies and programs.

  Extensive knowledge and understanding of current health care trends and practices.

  Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and business acumen.

  Must be able to operate effectively in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

  Ability to identify, create and foster an organizational culture that is supportive of and builds upon the Trinity Health faith-based traditions and vision for a healing ministry.

  Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Trinity Health.

  PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  Must be able to balance, manage and adapt to frequently changing work priorities, and be able to prioritize and balance the requirements of working with the System Office and Regional Health Ministries (RHMs).

  Must be able to travel to the various Trinity Health sites as needed. Relocation assistance is provided if applicable.
