The Practicum Director for the Master in Social Work Program within the School of Arts and Sciences will oversee all aspects of the practicum experience development, implementation, and (re)accreditation. The remote position requires professional knowledge, administrative and management skills, practicum policy expertise, accreditation experience, and cultural sensitivity. This is a 12-month faculty position with a teaching load of 18 credits. Per CSWE accreditation standards, the Practicum Director must devote 50% of their time to administration and will receive the required course release for administrative responsibilities.

Examples of Duties
Teach seminar and clinical courses
Ensure the Practicum Education program remains in compliance with NYSED and CSWE standards
Develop and maintain practicum sites and affiliation agreements
Recruit, train, and mentor qualified practicum supervisors
Oversee and provide support to practicum liaisons, helping to resolve student issues
Maintain practicum education records
Develop, update, and distribute the MSW Practicum Manual
Contribute to initial CSWE accreditation and subsequent reaccreditation efforts
Develop and continually review Foundation and Advanced Year practicum courses
Represent the program within the institution, in professional organizations, and at community events
Facilitate orientation workshops for students, practicum supervisors, and task supervisors
Actively participate in professional associations related to the program
Work closely with the MSW Program Director to support student and program success
Advise students on issues related to practicum and career opportunities
Typical Qualifications
MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program (required)
Doctoral degree (DSW, PhD) from a regionally accredited institution with a focus in social work or closely related field (preferred)
Five (5) or more years post-MSW full-time practice experience (required)
LCSW or equivalent licensure designation (required)
Minimum two (2) years of higher education teaching experience at the Bachelor or Master level (preferred)
Experience with online course delivery and Learning Management Systems (LMS) (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of pedagogical approaches associated with MSW programs
Knowledge of CSWE accreditation process
Knowledge of maintaining the SBU MSW educational culture in an online environment
Skill in verbal and written communication
Skill in computer applications, including Office 365 suite, Zoom, Flip, and Canva
Strong organization and time management skills
Discernable aptitude and skill in fostering relationships with diverse stakeholders
Ability to work independently
Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of constituents in a diverse work environment in person and via email and other technology
