Columbia University Irving Medical Center's Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics is in the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and is focused on advancing biomedical research through the study of molecular genetics, chemical biology, and structural biology to identify specific and novel targets to modify the function of living systems and impact disease response.
Postdoctoral Research Scientist positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Cory Abate-Shen at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City. Our laboratory is focused on studying prostate and bladder cancers using genetically-engineered mouse models, organoid models, and systems biology approaches. Areas of investigation include: (1) understanding how basic mechanisms associated with cellular plasticity, differentiation, and specification are coopted in cancer; (2) investigating mechanisms of disease progression and metastasis; and (3) pre-clinical investigations of cancer treatment and prevention. Recent publications include: Vasciaveo et al. Cancer Discov. 2023; Paull, E. O. et al. Cell 2021; Papachristodoulou et al., Cancer Discov. 2021; Arriaga et al. Nature Cancer, 2020.
