The Department of Asian American Studies (AAS) at the University ofIllinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks two postdoctoral research associatesfor the 2024-2025 academic year. This is a one-year appointment with astart date of August 16, 2024. Applicants must demonstrate promise for atenure-track appointment at a research college or university, and theirprimary research focus must be in Asian American Studies. Proposedresearch projects should have the potential to make a significantcontribution to the field. The postdoctoral research associate will behoused in the Department of Asian American Studies and will be providedopportunities to build a supportive on-campus community with thepostdoctoral research associates from American Indian and IndigenousStudies, African American Studies, Gender and Women\'s Studies, andLatina/Latino Studies.

Qualifications
Applicants must have received a doctorate or appropriate terminal degreewithin the past five years or have completed this requirement by August15, 2024.
This is an external appointment. Current University of Illinois facultymembers and graduate students at the Urbana-Champaign campus are noteligible to apply. Scholars who received their Ph.D. from the Universityof Illinois at Urbana-Champaign are also not eligible for thisappointment.
Salary and Appointment Information
This is a one-year appointment that is renewable for an additional year,contingent on satisfactory performance review, funding, and unit needs.The appointment has a target start date of August 16, 2024, and is for anine-month period, August 16, 2024 - May 15, 2025. Recipient may nothold other postdoctoral positions, fellowships, or awards during theappointment period. The postdoctoral research associate is expected tobe in residence for the duration of the appointment (August 16, 2024 -May 15, 2025).
The postdoctoral research associate will be expected to participate inresearch and teaching. While research and participation in theintellectual life of the program is the primary responsibility, thepostdoctoral research associate will be expected to teach one course inAsian American Studies. The specific teaching duties will be decided inconsultation with the Director.
The salary is \$58,240 paid over a 12-month period (August 16, 2024 -August 15, 2025) and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Aresearch budget of \$5,000 will be provided. The department will providethe postdoctoral research associate with office space.
