Discover the endlessopportunities within the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and beinspired by the work we can do together to improve health, and make apositive, daily impact in our communities. In the role of PostdoctoralFellow you will beworking in Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy.Purpose Post-doctoral position is available in the Department of CellBiology focused on protein structure and biochemistry of Gprotein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Our lab aims to uncover bindingmotifs of several chemical probes designed with pathway-selectivesignaling using structural approaches including cryo-EM, X-raycrystallography, EPR/DEER, and NMR approaches. Our lab is ahighly-creative, fast-paced and dynamic environment that spans multipledisciplines with aims toward publishing high-impact discoveries in theGPCR or membrane protein fields of study. We welcome highly-motivatedand well-organzied candidates capable of independent work in alaboratory setting. Candidates should have strong interests instructural biology and biophysical techniques and strong background inbiochemistry or structural biology related fields of study. PrimaryFunctions Design expression constructs using PCR-based methods includingGibson assembly and site-directed mutagenesis. Perform advancedpurification techniques such as affinity chromatography (e.g. His, FLAG,or streptavidin) on membrane proteins, analyze purity, and concentrateprotein for use in experiments. Determine structural motifs withinmembrane proteins that allow for maximal expression and/or fusiontechniques for macromolecular complex assembly. Perform data collectionusing cryo-EM or X-ray crystallography techniques and determinestructures with high resolution. Participate in internationalcollaborations and communication with the principal investigators andfellow scientists when needed for projects. Participate in regularone-on-one and lab meetings with principal investigator and researchstaff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data, developmethodologies, evaluate lab procedures. Interact and participate indepartmental meetings, including relevant seminars and journal clubs.Knowledge - Skills - Abilities Doctorate in biochemistry or structuralbiology related field is required.
