Job Description:
The Edison Biotechnology Institute ( EBI ) is a research institute at Ohio University. Our investigators help to find new ways to diagnose and treat illness through research programs in growth disorders, diabetes, obesity, autoimmune diseases, inflammation, aging, infectious diseases and cancer.
The primary responsibility of the candidate would be to conduct experiments in the area of molecular endocrinology focusing on the action of Growth Hormone as it relates to diabetes, obesity, cancer, and aging. Knowledge of state-of-the-art protocols involving analysis of DNA , RNA , and proteins is a must. Also, a working knowledge of various bioinformatic ‘tools’ is a plus. An overarching goal of the research is to directly develop intellectual property in collaboration with academic collaborators of these various projects. The candidate will be required to actively generate data, present the data at internal group meetings, and externally at national and international meetings. Additional responsibilities include independent grant proposal writing skills for federal and private funding opportunities, acquiring research funding, leading research projects with minimal supervision, writing and submitting manuscripts, and presentation of research at conferences. Also, the candidate will be expected to help train undergraduate & graduate students and technicians in the laboratory.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Biology or or closely related in hand by time of appointment. One year of related experience.
