　　Overview of the Role

　　The Unaccompanied Children Program provides long term and transitional residential care and other supportive services to Unaccompanied Children (UC) who are under legal custody of the Federal Government. Working in collaboration with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, ORR, our program provides a safe and nurturing environment for youth in aBasic Shelterprogram, and theTherapeutic Group Homeprograms located at our licensed residential facility in Yonkers, NY as well as aTransitional Foster Careprogram and theLong-Term Foster CareProgramlocated in foster homes in the Bronx and Westchester. In all programs, we provide therapeutic and educational services and other supports that youth need to achieve success through an array of strength-based and targeted interventions as well as link them with family members and/or other sponsors in the United States so they can move forward with their lives and thrive.The main responsibility of the Porter is to maintain the cottages clean, sanitized and inspection ready.

　　Responsibilities

　　ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

　　The Porter is Responsible for the cleanliness, sanitizing and light repairs around the cottages. Working in collaboration with the House Managers and other cottage staff to ensure cottages are clean and repairs needed are completed in a timely fashion. This includes that furniture throughout the cottage is in good shape, damages/repairs are reported immediately and that all areas are safe and clutter free.

　　Duties :

　　Cleaning and maintaining the floors (including scraping and waxing)

　　Bathrooms: Cleaned, Sanitized daily (tubs, sinks, toilets)

　　All cottage floors swept and moped (living room, dining room, bathroom, and hallways)

　　Replenishment of paper goods (Hand towel dispensers, bathroom tissue)

　　Replenishment of Sanitizer of all Hand units throughout the cottages

　　Replenishment of Hand Soap (Bathrooms and Kitchens)

　　Cleaning Windows and ledges weekly

　　Weekly Cleaning of Air Vents throughout the cottages

　　Cleaning of Classrooms (wiping desk down, sweeping and mopping the floors, removing garbage)

　　Shovel walkways and spread salt in preparation of snow

　　Ensure grounds surrounding cottage areas are clean (raking leaves, picking up garbage, shovel/remove snow)

　　Track supply to ensure items needed available

　　Provide supply order needed on Monthly basis to the Administrative Assistance

　　Qualifications

　　Required: High School diploma/GED

　　Preferred/ 2 or More Years’ experience performing Porter/Maintenance Duties

　　Good written and communication skills

　　Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus

　　Valid Drivers’ License and clean driving record

　　PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions. They include but are not limited to the following: a high degree of physical exertion, including bending, lifting up to 50lbs, climbing, standing, walking, use of hand tools, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, go up and down a latter, etc.
