  Summary This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the POLICE SERVICES BRANCH WCF. As a POLICE OFFICER, you will be armed and are primarily responsible for the enforcement of the Federal, State and local laws relating to the protection of human life, including the preservation of the civil rights of individuals. Responsibilities The following are the duties of this position at the TR-8. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As a POLICE OFFICER, you will: Prevent, detect, and investigate violations of laws, rules, and regulations involving accidents, misconduct, and misdemeanor to felony crimes. Arrest violators, assist in the prosecution of criminals, and serve as a source of assistance to employees and the public in emergencies. Be actively involved in the protection and law enforcement of Federal property and grounds where there is a high potential for a range of violations, up to and including felonious acts such as, but not limited to, grand theft, fraud, severe assault, hostage takeovers, bomb threats and acts of terrorism. Conduct investigations of crimes and maintain surveillance over the facility to protect and prevent such crimes. Be responsible for the prevention, detection, and investigation of violations of laws, rules, and regulations involving accidents, crimes, and misconduct. Through investigation process, collect physical and testimonial evidence and appears as a witness in court proceedings. Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for disqualification in the hiring process. The background investigation process conducted by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is very thorough. Therefore, it is imperative that applicants exercise candor and honesty when answering background questionnaires, especially as it relates to arrest, employment, education, finances, illegal drug use, and/or other criminal history. Falsification discovered in security documents or during the background investigation process may result in an immediate negative suitability determination or immediate revocation of your interim clearance (if applicable). Qualifications You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Minimum Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 Years of Age. AND Specialized Experience: For the TR-08: Specialized experience is one full year of experience at the TR-07/GS-06 level or equivalent in other public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for the TR-08 includes experience that provided knowledge of Federal, State or Local Laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices and techniques, investigating and resolving incidents and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. For the TR-07: Specialized experience is one full year of experience at the TR-06/GS-05 level or equivalent in other public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for the TR-07 includes experience that provided knowledge of Federal, State or Local Laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. For the TR-06/GS-5: Specialized experience is one full year of experience at the GS-04 level or equivalent in other public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. OR A 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in Police Science or a comparable degree program related to the work of the position. OR A combination of specialized experience and education in a Police Science or a comparable degree program related to the work of the position. *Note: Successful completion of a Federal, State, county, or municipal police academy or comparable training course that included at least 40 classroom hours of instruction in police department procedures and methods, and local law and regulations, may be substituted for a maximum of 3 months of specialized experience. Education Additional Information OTHER INFORMATION: We may select from this announcement or any other source to fill one or more vacancies. This is a bargaining unit position. FOP 50 - Fraternal Order of Police (Texas) The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for workdays during the shutdown period. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: A one-year probationary period may be required. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position. Pass a pre-employment psychological evaluation. Pass a pre-employment physical examination. Possess a valid state motor vehicle operator's license upon appointment OR within 30 days of appointment (as appropriate) and maintain a valid license while you occupy the position. Wear required safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc. Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis. Lautenberg Amendment: This position requires carrying a firearm. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, U.S.C., Section 922(g)(91).You will be ineligible to occupy this position if at any time you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless you received a pardon or your conviction was expunged or set aside - Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. Complete or have previously completed the Mixed Basic/Uniformed Police Training Program course(s) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.
