Job Description:
As the Controller for our manufacturing company, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing our financial operations. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records, implementing effective internal controls, analyzing financial data, and providing strategic guidance to support decision-making processes. This is a key leadership position that requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records and transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to maintain internal control standards.
Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Provide insightful financial analysis and reports to senior management.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor performance against budget and provide regular reports on financial performance. Identify areas of concern or opportunity and propose appropriate actions.
Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure cost efficiency throughout the organization. Analyze product costs, manufacturing variances, and overhead expenses to optimize profitability.
Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and accounting principles, including GAAP. Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to provide required information. Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow projections, analyze funding needs, and ensure the availability of adequate working capital. Optimize cash management strategies to maximize liquidity while minimizing risks.
Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, including accountants and financial analysts. Provide guidance, support professional development, and ensure the team's productivity and effectiveness.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar financial leadership role within a manufacturing company.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and GAAP.
Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems.
Advanced skills in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost accounting is a plus.
