Job Summary
Denver Health is recruiting a Vascular Surgeon to join our team! Physiciansand surgeons diagnose illnesses, prescribe and administer treatment, andmaintain appropriate follow up for people suffering from injury and/ordisease. Physicians examine patients, obtain medical histories, andorder, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests. Surgeons specialize in thetreatment of injury, disease, and deformity through operations. Thisposition is associated with a faculty appointment at the University ofColorado School of Medicine.The Vascular Surgery Service at Denver Health performs over 200 operationsannually, including trauma, emergent, urgent, and elective surgery.There is a wide range of vascular surgeries performed, including a mix ofboth endovascular and open vascular surgeries. The vascular surgery servicealso involves oversight of our vascular lab, which performs over 400 studiesannually, and coordination of patient care with both interventionalradiology and interventional cardiology, according to a standardized,shared triage schedule for endovascular cases.
The Ernest E. Moore Shock Trauma Center at Denver Health is an internationallyrenowned, American College of Surgeons Level I adult and Level II pediatrictrauma center, with over 3,000 patient evaluations annually. Among otherservices, the trauma center specializes in retrograde balloon occlusion ofthe aorta, complex pelvic fracture management and extra-corporeal membraneoxygenation. The Trauma Center is actively engaged in a number of researchprojects, and publishes over 200 peer reviewed articles annually.The Denver Health Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is atwenty-three-bed intensive care unit staffed by surgeons who are boardcertified in surgical critical care. Patient acuity is high and involvesderangement of multiple organ system simultaneously. The SICU is the primarysite for both our Trauma and Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical CareFellowships.Denver Health serves as a satellite site for several fellowships, residencyprograms, and medical schools; education of residents is a coreresponsibility of our surgical faculty.

Responsibilities1. Clinical responsibilities of this position include:a. Attending on vascular surgery service, including outpatient clinics andcoordination of care, inpatient service (primary and consultationpatients), inpatient vascular surgery consults, and trauma,emergent, urgent, and elective vascular surgeries.b. Participation in night and weekend endovascular and open vascular call.c. Elective vascular surgery practice including elective clinics, operatingroom blocks, outreach, and program development.d. Medical Director of the Vascular lab, including oversight of personnel,standard development and maintenance, and scheduling.e. Surgical Director of the Vascular Surgery Center, including coordinationand triage of shared outpat ent and inpatient (non-trauma) cases with bothinterventional radiology and interventional cardiology.f. Coordination with other services (e.g., trauma, obstetrics,renal) to develop robust relationships, practice management guidelines,and standard workflow for shared disease processes.2. Physicians at Denver Health are faculty members of the University ofColorado School of Medicine serve as teachers for students seeking clinicalexperience at Denver Health and provide education for post graduate medicaltrainees.3.
