Job Summary:Following established policies and procedures, under the directsupervision of a pharmacist, prepares and distributes medication andperforms functions essential to the operations of the pharmacydepartment. Oversees training of new technician staff. Functions withinthe guidelines of the Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Code -Pharmacy Examining Board - Pharmacy Practice Sections. Other duties asassigned. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: Minimum of 3 years work experience ina hospital pharmacy department is preferred.EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: HighSchool diploma or equivalent is required. For decentralizedtechnicians - a minimum of 3 years work experience in aoutpatient/community pharmacy is preferred.TRAINING DESCRIPTION:Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician training program ispreferred.LICENSURE DESCRIPTION: Application for Wisconsin registrationas a Pharmacy Technician is required by hire date and must be obtainedwithin 12 months of hire. Staff hired into this role prior to 3/31/23must have applied for Wisconsin registration by 3/31/23 and have until3/31/24 to obtain registration. Certification as a Pharmacy Technician(CPhT) through passing the Pharmacy Technician Certification Boards exam(PTCE) or the National Healthcareer Associations exam (ExCPT) isrequired within 6 months of hire.
