Job Summary and Qualifications
Under general direction of the Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacy Buyer will perform procurement activities including order placement, product sourcing, and vendor interaction. Maintains inventory at appropriate levels and verifies contract pricing agreements, and compliance. Performs daily monitoring of budget, and invoices to assure proper billing and credits. Maintains DEA and state board records of pharmacy licensure for department. Resource person for all automated medication dispensing machines (AMDM’s) in hospital. Analyzes appropriate system reports of AMDM’s daily. Monitors and controls drug inventory in AMDM’s.
What you will do in this role:
You will ensure that all pharmaceutical products are labeled appropriately with barcodes.
You will establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels of drugs/supplies and communicate changes in availability.
You will make purchasing decisions that comply with budget limitations.
You will manage all vendor invoices and process for payment by accounts payable per policy.
You will manage the transfer of drugs between areas of the pharmacy, the hospital and non-hospital accounts.
You will comply with facility, division and corporate contract compliance procedures.
You will prepare Pharmacy Department for annual inventory by updating shelf labels, inventory supply forms and databases.
You will perform Lead Technician duties as needed.
What q ualifications y ou w ill n eed:
Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Technician required.
Pharmacy Technician Certification is helpful.
3 years hospital pharmacy technician experience to include IV compounding and pyxis/Omnicell or other automated dispensing system experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Knowledge of drug brand/generic names and their common uses strongly preferred.
Computer skills required.
Must be self-motivated and work well independently.
