A Brief Overview
The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DCAPBS) within the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is recruiting a pediatric neuropsychologist to join the Section of Neuropsychology and Assessment. The neuropsychologist will provide clinical services within the Division of Oncology, joining a multidisciplinary team of psychosocial providers (neuropsychologists, pediatric psychologists, psychometrists, social workers, educational coordinators, child life and creative therapists) and oncology clinicians responsible for the care of pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients. Clinical services include outpatient screening, consultation and brief intervention, and targeted and comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations. Clinical populations encompass a range of Oncology diagnoses (e.g., leukemias, brain tumor) and associated clinical programs, including comprehensive vascular anomalies, hematology/blood disorders, genetic predisposition syndromes, and immunodeficiencies. There are multiple opportunities for involvement in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, training, and program development.
Consistent with the mission of CHOP, neuropsychologists have opportunities to participate in training of future healthcare providers, through the section's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program and department's APA-accredited Pre-Doctoral Psychology Internship, as well as opportunities to work with psychology practicum students from area universities. Teaching opportunities are also available with medical and other healthcare trainees. Participation in multidisciplinary quality improvement projects and clinical research is an integral component of this position.
Psychologists and neuropsychologists at CHOP are expected to apply for a faculty appointment through the Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania (rank commensurate with experience).
