PD&A Technician - Cranbury, NJ
MAIN FUNCTION:
This role is responsible for screening flavors, testing analytical parameters, and creating prototypes for customer demonstrations. Technicians are responsible to provide support for Scientists to execute proactive and reactive customer projects.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
High School Diploma or higher with scientific focus or background
Basic Mathematical Skills – capable of conducting basic algebraic functions (i.e. multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, parts per million)
Basic Scientific Skills – understands common scientific terminology, basic chemistry terms and concepts, basic human physiology.
Computer Skills – comfortable with computer usage with standard office software.
Analytical Skills – competent with basic instrumentation and methods such as pH meters, titrations, balances, and stir plates
Problem-Solving Skills – capable of root-cause identification, considering alternative solutions, and providing recommendations and solutions to Scientists and Managers
Communication Skills – able to conduct written and oral technical and business communication
Creative Thinking – consider multiple options and viewpoints when making decisions
DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:
Perform and interpret analytical testing
Under supervision, batch and conduct minor product base modifications, screen flavor/colors, and adjust formula accordingly in formula database
Perform basic math conversions for product nutritional claims and other analytical data
Understand and adhere to standard lab procedures and safety practices
Set up informal sensory triangle tastings and conduct stability tests
Support pilot plant scale-ups and trials
Research, update, and interpret data from formula, raw material, project, and inventory databases
Generate data for customer demonstration sheets
