Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.Key job responsibilities* Plan, develop, document and execute assembly and test operations to validate phased array antenna systems for flight to meet Kuiper production build rates.* Bring-up, test and troubleshoot complex antenna PCBA's at the board level.* Lead acceptance and qualification test (environmental, functional and performance) campaigns for early Kuiper phased-array antenna system designs.* Analyze test failures to ensure defects are fully understood and provide design recommendations for the product to increase performance, reliability, and yield.* Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and RF performance problems on the fly, working with an integrated cross-functional team of electrical, antenna, mechanical, software and manufacturing engineering teams.* Specify, procure and set up antenna test cell layouts for the production floor.* Write technical specifications for antenna assembly and test from scratch.* Must be willing to work off shifts and weekends as required.Export Control Requirement:Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.About the teamAs a PCBA Manufacturing Test Engineer at Project Kuiper, you will be directly responsible for testing, qualifying and troubleshooting phased array antennas for the Kuiper broadband internet satellite. You will utilize innovative solutions and cutting-edge technology to solve difficult manufacturing and engineering problems on a daily basis, at both a systems and specialized level. You will be a critical lynchpin between the engineering, operations, tooling, supply chain and quality teams, and help lead production on the assembly line as well as new production introduction. You will provide vital manufacturability input to the design engineering teams for both new and existing hardware. Finally, you will be responsible for standing up new processes, equipment, and assembly lines to support Kuiper's aggressive build ramp, making data-driven decisions at each step in the process.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Redmond, WA, USA- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent- 1+ years of test experience with antennas, electrical systems, PCBA's and/or embedded software.- 1+ years of hands-on test, assembly and/or fabrication experience.- IPC-A-610 certification or familiarity.- 1+ years of experience testing, troubleshooting, and debugging RF electronics.- 1+ years of programming experience in Python, C#, C++, or MATLAB- Experience with complex products in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.- Strong organizational, analytical, root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.- Excellent communication and leadership skills.Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $77,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $215,600/year in our highest geographic market.
