This is for full-time, seasonal temporary employment. Duties include The Carpenter Helper, under the direction of the carpenter or the foreman, will gather and carry materials, measure, and cut materials, handling and placing metal mesh, dowel bars, reinforcing bars, and chairs. Additionally, the position involves a dynamic range of construction-related duties requiring the use or assistance of various tools and small equipment. The individual will operate air, gas, and electric tools, assist carpenters with materials and equipment as a Carpenter Helper, and perform caulking to seal joints and cracks. Assisting with compressors under 400 CFM and assisting concrete finishers are also part of the job. The role also includes assisting with the use of drilling equipment and utilizing electric drills. The responsibilities extend to assembling expansion joints in concrete forms, tamping forms to ensure solid fills, and executing general labor tasks. Additionally, the job requires using handheld vibrators to help settle concrete and walk-behind vibrating compacters to help settle grade. This role demands versatility and physical stamina, while assisting with the efficiency and safety of construction operations. The worker will also be responsible for maintaining a clean work area and clean equipment and installing temporary traffic control devices within the work area, as needed. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. repeatedly. Must be able to work in outside weather conditions. 6 months of construction experience is required.
$17.79 - $25.00 per hour with overtime available at $26.63 - $37.50 per hour, based on hourly rate. 40 hours per week from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Returning workers and workers with experience may be paid higher wage rates. Job opportunity is a temporary, full-time position. Daily travel to worksites in the area of intended employment is required. The requested temporary workers will be based at IA-92, Ainsworth, IA, 52201 and will service clients within the Iowa City, IA, Cedar Rapids, IA, Davenport-Moline-Rock Island, IA-IL, North Missouri nonmetropolitan area, Southeast Iowa nonmetropolitan area, West Central Illinois nonmetropolitan area, including the counties of Washington County, Johnson County, Benton County, Jones County, Linn County, Mercer County, Rock Island County, Scott County, Scotland County, Scotland County, Louisa County, Henry County, Jefferson County, Muscatine County, Des Moines County, Keokuk County, Van Buren County, Cedar County, Iowa County, Poweshiek County, Clinton County, Wapello County, Lee County, Mahaska County, Davis County, Monroe County, Henderson County, Hancock County, Warren County. Employer provides transportation to and from all worksites.
Single workweek will be used in computing wages due. Pay period is Weekly. Employer will make all deductions from worker's paycheck required by law. Transportation, including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging, to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed by a company check, separate from the payroll check, if the worker completes half of the employment period. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will arrange and pay directly for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back to home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation paym nt or reimbursement will be equal to the most economically and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $15.46 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts. Reimbursement in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker (but not included passport expenses or other charges primarily for the benefit of the worker). The employer will provide worker, at no charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job and on the job training in the proper use of tools and equipment. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period only to the extent of the total employment period. As of the date of this posting, the three-fourths guarantee is not enforced.
