Job Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
As the Payroll Tax Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring all payroll taxes are correctly withheld, reported, paid, and filed in compliance with laws and regulation. The ideal candidate will be accountable for defining and implementing the employment tax strategy, principles, and manage multi-state tax reporting, in addition to supporting employment tax audits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Research laws and regulations related to payroll taxes and respond to payroll tax inquiries
Assist with internal/external payroll audits and compliance reporting including 401(k) and Workers Compensation
Strong multi-state tax and payroll compliance experience
Keep current with policies, procedures, and changing tax laws for compliance with state and federal regulations. Revise procedures and train staff as needed.
Serve as the primary contact with Ceridian Tax Services for tax set-ups and filings in all federal, state and local jurisdictions.
Manage state unemployment tax rates and oversee employment tax processing using Ceridian.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Assists in processing payroll tax payments and check requests on a timely basis.
Assuring that third party vendors adhere to established service level agreements.
Make recommendations and implement approved internal process changes as required.
Manage wage, tax adjustments, amendments and W2 corrections.
Responsible for the management of the state unemployment tax rates.
Reconcile tax data between Workday and Ceridian.
Assure all federal, state, and local payroll tax liabilities and associated regulatory tax filings including W2 distribution are completed accurately and within mandated timelines.
Remains current on new legislation and regulatory ruling impacting payroll. Enforce adherence to requirements and advise management on required actions.
Ensure file transmittals for child support, wage garnishment, and other payroll related court orders are processed as needed.
Act as a backup to the Payroll Analyst.
Assists with developing and implementing payroll- tax related policies and procedures and participating in continuous improvement measures within Payroll.
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Payroll Director.

Qualifications
HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)
5+ years of payroll management experience and multi-state payroll expertise
BSc/BA in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field; professional certification (e.g., FPC)
Ability to work well within a team environment
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Experience with Workday Payroll and Ceridian
Knowledge of state and federal wage and tax laws
