WHAT YOU'LL DO
YOUR ROLE
The role will lead and be responsible for managing the end-to-end processing of the monthly payrolls for BCG and Platinion in The Netherlands and Belgium. The role will also manage and process the monthly Mobility payrolls for these countries. Payroll includes close collaboration with the Benefits team and reporting of taxable benefits through payroll. The role will also work with finance, HR, mobility and tax teams to collaborate across functions and ensure operational efficiencies, robust controls throughout the processes and compliance with local tax and pension legislation. The role will be based in the Amsterdam office and reports to the L-A-B (London, Amsterdam, Brussels) Payroll Director.
You will be responsible for:
Leadership and Teaming:
Lead and develop a high-performing payroll team in the Netherlands and Belgium
Provide guidance, support and mentorship to team members
Resolve escalated payroll issues and questions, ensuring timely and accurate resolutions
Payroll
Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll processes for our Dutch and Belgium entities according the statutory requirements
Perform key monthly payroll reviews to check and authorize the payrolls - ensuring high levels of accuracy and consistency
Manage and review bonus scheme payments and reconciliations through payroll
Manage and review the HR to Payroll information flow and required enhancements
Ensure the calculation of tax, national insurance and pensions is accurate and statutory legislation is maintained
Manage and review all tax year end processes
Partner with our payroll provider on monthly and annual processes
Management of shared inboxes to advise employees and stakeholders on payroll related queries
Ensure collaboration across functional teams to reconcile payroll data with HR and benefit system data on a monthly basis
Partner with Financial Accounting team on general ledger reporting, intercompany reclass and secondment invoicing data
Process & Compliance:
Maintain, review, and suggest improvements to payroll processes for LAB offices
Ensure compliance of all local payroll regulations and changes to legislation
Manage and document all process controls within the function to ensure compliance and segregation of duties
Liaise with Tax & Compliance and Risk teams on policies, processes and controls
Benefits
Review and maintain compliance of benefit salary sacrifice, taxable benefit in kind and pension reporting through the monthly payrolls
Act as a counterpart to support the Benefits team regarding tax implications on taxable benefits
Work closely with the benefits team to ensure that external systems used to calculate benefits premiums are maintained, comply with current legislation, and accurately share data with external providers. This includes active participation in system updates, legislative changes, and ongoing communication to guarantee seamless integration between payroll and benefits processes
Mobility
Collaborate with the mobility team to identify tax obligations for cross-border workers.
Ensure correct processing of cross-border workers in payroll, including salary-split, shadow- and hypotax calculations.
Partner with Tax and Mobility team to ensure compliance with cross-border working processes and digital government reporting tools.
Identify eligible employees for expat tax regimes (30% ruling) and ensure timely and correct application and processing in payroll
Manage Certificate of Coverage /A1 social security application process and tracking with local government
Manage relocation and mobility related taxable benefits for declaration through payroll
Advise employees on mobility related tax matters impacting NL/BE Payroll
Partner with tax advisors on preparation of BCG sponsored personal tax returns for Mobility employees
Partner with our tax advisors to manage tax equalization settlements and tax payments for Mobility employees
Other responsibilities (but not limited to)
Implementation and improvement of systems - manage digital enhancements and additional reporting functionalities
Be an active discussion and thought partner across LAB Payroll with the Benefits, HR, Mobility and Tax teams.
Liaise with external advisors (Tax/Pension) on processes, payments and collation of payroll data
Provide payroll support during internal and external audits
Continuously seek for process improvements and sharing of best practices across LAB
Support and provide cover for other team members during absences to ensure smooth and consistent running of the payroll function
Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and adhoc projects as required
Ongoing compliance of Finance Minimum Standards
Pro-actively keeping up to date with all legislative changes in tax, pensions and taxable benefits

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
Qualified Payroll Professional (PDL and VPS) with the ability to resolve complex payroll issues effectively.
6 years plus experience with Dutch payroll regulations & tax legislation
In-depth knowledge of payroll processes and compliance requirements in the Netherlands and Belgium
Experience with cross-border workers and related social security and tax implications
Experience of managing multiple tasks and processes with strict legislative deadlines
Proficient with systems i.e., MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and payroll software (ADP)
Very strong technical attitude and desire to enhance knowledge
Professional services experience is desirable
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and successfully in a fast-paced and global service-oriented environment
Excellent written and spoken English language skills
