Patrol assigned areas relative to maintaining law and order and publicsafety. Must insure and protect complete confidentiality of departmentalmatters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Otherduties may be assigned.
1. Enforce the laws of the United States, State of Arkansas and Countyordinances.
2. Investigate, report and aid in prosecution of violators.
3. Enforce all rules and regulations of the POA in regard to publicsafety,
traffic and security within Hot Springs Village. Promotes public safety.
4. Prepare written reports and statistics relative to investigationsand incidents.
5. Promote an image of respect and courtesy in accordance with POA and
Police policies.
6. Regular attendance is required.
7. Provide assistance to HSV residents/citizens.
QUALIFICATIONS The extensive qualifications for a law enforcementofficer are established by state law. Generally, a law EnforcementOfficer must be 21 years old, possess a high school diploma or itsequivalent, must pass a physical and psychological examination, must befree of criminal record and must be thoroughly investigated as tocharacter and ability. Must have a satisfactory driving record.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
EXPERIENCE
Must be Law Enforcement certified through Arkansas or any otheraccredited state. Advancement may vary according to needs and positionsavailable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret law enforcement periodicals,professional journals, court decrees, court decisions, and governmentalrules and regulations. Ability to write reports and make oralpresentations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to perform basic functions of addition,subtraction, multiplication, and division.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve problems of a practical and abstract nature. Ability tointerpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram,or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess or attain a BasicCertificate from the Arkansas Commission of Law Enforcement Standardsand Training. Must possess a valid Arkansas drivers license and cleandriving record with proof of liability insurance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representativeof those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform theessential functions of this job. Must be able to stand for long periodsof time. Must be capable of strenuous running. Must be capable ofparticipating in strenuous firearms and defensive tactics training.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here arerepresentative of those an employee encounters while performing theessential functions of this job. Must be able to work in all types ofweather at all hours of the day. Must be able to handle various types ofstress associated with the position. This is a safety-sensitiveposition.
MEAL BREAKS Due to the nature of position, unless employee is relievedof all duty during a specified lunch break, such break shall beconsidered an on duty meal period and counted as time worked. An on dutymeal period shall be permitted only when the nature of the work preventsan employee from being relieved of all duty.
