Scope
As a Patient Transporter you need to know how to:Transport patients, charts, specimens, and required equipment to varioustreatment and diagnostic areas throughout the hospital in a safe and efficientmanner 100% of the time. Provide emergency assistance to patients who becomeill during transport process until clinical staff can be notified andassistance arrives.Comfort patients and their families by offering support and encouragement;being punctual and attentive to procedure schedules; demonstrating caringand cultural sensitivity.- Coordinate the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.- Verify mode of transportation, obtain patient chart, necessarypaperwork, required linens, and/or equipment. Notify nursing staff ofpatient being transported and the destination.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent, required- Current BLS certificationendorsed by the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain withinsixty (60) days of hire (with prior approval), required- At leasttwo (2) years of customer service experience, preferred- At least one(1) year of medical experience, preferredPhysical Requirements:Carrying, Climbing, Crawling,Hearing/Listening, Lifting, Manual Dexterity, Pulling/Pushing,Seeing, Speaking, Squatting/Kneeling, Standing, Walking
