We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our healthcare team as a Patient Account Representative. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing patient accounts, ensuring accurate billing, and facilitating smooth financial transactions between healthcare providers and patients. The Patient Account Representative plays a crucial role in maintaining positive patient experiences by addressing billing inquiries, resolving issues, and upholding compliance with healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities:
Billing and Invoicing: Generate and process accurate patient invoices for services rendered, ensuring adherence to billing guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Payment Processing: Receive and process patient payments, verifying accuracy and completeness. Record transactions in the appropriate systems.
Insurance Claims: Work closely with insurance providers to submit and track claims, ensuring timely reimbursement. Resolve any claim denials or discrepancies.
Patient Inquiries: Address patient inquiries regarding billing statements, insurance coverage, and payment plans. Provide clear and concise explanations to assist in dispute resolution.
Financial Counseling: Collaborate with patients to discuss financial responsibilities, establish payment plans, and explore available assistance programs.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of patient accounts, billing transactions, and communication. Ensure compliance with confidentiality and privacy regulations.
Account Reconciliation: Reconcile patient accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies. Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy.
Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including billing specialists, clinicians, and administrative staff, to streamline financial processes and improve overall patient satisfaction.
Compliance: Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations and billing practices. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other relevant standards.
Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in patient account management.
Requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
Proven experience in healthcare billing, accounts receivable, or a related financial role.
Familiarity with medical coding, insurance claims, and billing software.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with patients, insurance representatives, and internal stakeholders.
Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and billing software applications.
