Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, trains Denver Health Paramedic Divisionemployees, Denver Fire Department employees, and members of the public incurrent pre-hospital emergency medical care theory and technique. Develops,designs, and implements new training courses. Researches and compilesinformation in instructional area. Accesses and prepares appropriateeducational materials.
Essential Functions:Assists in the monitoring of progress, needs and effectiveness of thefollowing;* Paramedic School clinical areas* Paramedic School classroom schedule* Paramedic School syllabus(90%)Train residents, medical students, and other health care professionals. (10%)
Education:High School Diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:1-3 years in advanced life support ambulance experience required.
Licenses:BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association required.EMTP-EMT Paramedic - CO - State of Colorado required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Patient Care* Clinical evaluation and management of emergency medicine and observationcare.* Personnel management.* Work-flow and quality improvement.* Knowledge of medical and nursing principals, procedures, and communityresources.* Skill in eliciting history from patients, performing physical exams andformulating assessments of and treatment plans for patients.* Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis.* Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of medications.* Physical health assessment skills.* Skill in utilizing the principles and practices of effective and persuasivecommunication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution,and/or garner support for various programs or policies.* Skill in obtaining information from patients, calming and reassuringpatients and motivating patients to accept treatments. Ability to exerciseinitiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment.* Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.* Ability to prepare accurate reports.* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships withco-workers, other departments and the public.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
