Summary You will serve as a PAINTER LEADER in the COATINGS AND SERVICES SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will read and interpret and correctly follow complex written instructions, drawings, specifications, engineering standards, and manufactures requirements. You will plan, organize, coordinate, and implement numerous quality-related issues and elements as they relate to the requirements and documentation of critical coated areas. You will keep supervisor updated on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems. You will assign immediate tasks to crew members and provide written and oral directions. Identifying coating materials to mix, match, tint, and tone surfaces. Interpreting instructions policies and procedures, drawings, specifications, and standards pertaining to painting. Using a variety of knifing and troweling compounds build up, fair, shape, and level. Ability and skill to apply paints at required mil thicknesses.
