Minimum/Required Qualifications Ph.D. degree in agronomy, entomology,horticulture, plant pathology, soils, or a related discipline related toagriculture. National/international record of scholarly achievement inresearch, extension, instructional and/or service activitiescommensurate with the rank of Associate Professor. Five years ofexperience supervising and managing personnel. Five years of experiencewith budget development and success in meeting budgetary goals. Clearunderstanding and commitment to the mission of land grant institutions.Outstanding professional and collaborative leadership. Ability to workboth independently and cooperatively within a team. Excellent oral andwritten communication skills. Position Duties 40% Research andScholarship Develop and conduct an extramurally funded, innovativeresearch program that provides timely information that benefitsagricultural production and/or natural resource management at the state,national, and global levels. 30% Leadership, Administration, andSupervision The Director is charged with determining resource needs andpriorities, approves the COAREC budget and exceptions to the budget 20%Outreach and Community Engagement Develop and maintain strong workingrelationships with County Commissioners, community leaders, state andfederal decision makers, OSU Cascade Campus, COCC Madras Campus, OpenCampus, local school districts, EDCO, Chamber of Commerce, and others asappropriate. 10% Service Support CAS, Extension, and other OSUdepartments through participation on committees and other administrativeactivities.
