This Outside Claims Representative (OCR) role provides service to policyholders in response to property claim events. The OCR will provide a high level of service to include prompt contact, resolution of damages including oversight of vendors and settlement of first party property damages.

  This posting can be for a deployable OCR position or full-time virtual (VPCR). Virtual candidates will be considered subject to hybrid work arrangements.

  This role can have a hybrid or remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Scottsdale, AZ, Naperville, IL, New York, NY and Danbury, CT) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.) Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

  RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform on-site (deployable OCR only) and virtual inspection (both deployable OCR and virtual VPCR) of damages

  • Consistently provide high-quality customer service

  • Provide technical/functional claim direction to your customers in response to claim events

  • Effectively assess the exposure of assigned claims

  • Possess a high level of understanding of residential/commercial construction and estimating

  • Engage and use external resources to control loss indemnity and expense

  QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience estimating property damage/structure claims

  • Technical expertise in managing property claims of increasing complexity with Xactimate technology

  • College degree or relevant work experience required

  • Excellent communication skills within the oral and written format

  • Ability to effectively collaborate and negotiate as needed with clients and colleagues

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Strong MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)

  • Must be able to work extended days/ hours (may include holidays) in response to catastrophic events. Ability to travel for up to 21 days at a time during event response (deployable OCR only)

  • Licensing: As a condition of employment, you must obtain and maintain a State Adjuster's License to process Property & Casualty Insurance claims in the states supported by your office. Continued employment with The Hartford is contingent upon the successful passage of the Licensing exam(s) within 30 business days from the completion of the licensing training

  Compensation

  The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

  $60,560 - 90,840
