JOB REQUIREMENTS: Duties The Occupational Therapist (OT) works under thegeneral supervision of the Program Manager of inpatient OT and PTservices, who sets the overall objectives to be met and resourcesavailable. The functions of the position include, but may not be limitedto the following: - Provide direct patient care in inpatient acute care,rehab, and long term care settings. - Independently completes areview/examination of patient data, including medical history to developa plan of care, assess patient\'s status, and ascertain patient\'s needfor therapy services. Implements the plan utilizing therapeuticexercise, functional mobility, and modalities as indicated in thetreatment plan. - Independence with serving patients who present a widerange of ages and a broad, complex array of both medical andpsychological problems. - Ability to independently provide clinicaloversight of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants. - Maintainstimely and appropriate documentation of all consults, initialevaluations, progress notes, discharge notes, patient/family education,and other tasks within departmental guidelines. -Has the ability to usecritical analysis, clinical reasoning and creativity to independentlysolve complex problems related to assessment, treatment and proceduresto meet the individual needs of patients. - Performs evaluations toinclude medical history, results, and interpretation of appropriatefunctional tests and measurements such as range of motion, musclestrength, sensory/perceptual deficits, coordination, functionalmobility, pain scales, and psychosocial needs. Evaluations will becomprehensive in nature and are directed at ascertaining the patient\'sfunctional status, rehabilitation needs, goals, and rehabilitationpotential. -Devise adaptations of equipment for specific needs of thepatients. -Participates in various quality assurance programs in therehab services division. -Ensures appropriate patient referrals anddischarge planning in concert with the multidisciplinary treatment team.-Assists in spinal cord rehab clinic as clinical needs arise. - Followsestablished Program and Division policies and procedures related tofire, disaster, and security measures. Participates as necessary in fireand emergency preparedness drills - Participates as necessary in fireand emergency preparedness drills. Assists during emergency situationsincluding initiating and/or assisting with CPR.
