FTE: 1.000000 Shift: Shift 1 Job Summary: The Nurse Managerprovides support to the Director of Nursing by overseeing the day-to-dayoperational activities of assigned patient care units. This individualmust be able to apply principles of leadership and human relations inthe overall supervision and coordination of patient care and personnel.This person may be delegated certain responsibilities in the absence ofthe Director of Nursing. Maintains unit specific standard of practicebased on current literature and professional standards of practice. Incollaboration with the Staff Development department and unit educators,participates in the design, implementation and evaluation oforientation, staff development, and continuing education relevant tounit staff. Also, in collaboration with the Staff Developmentdepartment, assists with nursing schools, regulatory requirements, andpatient and family education. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCEDESCRIPTION: Approximately two-years clinical practice in designatedspecialty to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of unit anddepartmental policies and procedures, and to fulfill established qualityand quantity standards for the job is required. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a levelnormally acquired through completion of a program at an accreditedSchool of Nursing is required. Bachelor\'s degree in nursing isrequired. If no nursing degree, must be enrolled and activelyprogressing in an academic program, which will confer a nursing degree(Bachelor\'s or Master\'s in Nursing) by January 1, 2014. SPECIAL SKILLSDESCRIPTION: Interpersonal skills necessary to instruct and maintaineffective contacts with a variety of hospital personnel. Analyticalskills necessary to prepare nursing care plans, outcome managementtools, statistical reports, implement effective nursing care and developsolutions to problems concerning patients\' mental or physicalwell-being.
